It's almost time for bee pickup! Are you ready? If not, it's time to get to work because the bees wait for no-one.

One of the things that should be on your to-do list is register your bee yard with the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. It is state law and the registration is free. The purpose of registering your bee yard is not for the government to track your every move. It is to monitor and control the spread of disease and pests, especially American Foul Brood.

The Apiary Inspectors will come out and do a free inspection on your hive to evaluate the health of your hive. Should a hive within three miles of your bee yard be found to have AFB, you will be contacted. 

Registering your bee yard makes for good beekeeping neighbors. You will be notified if another bee yard is established within three miles of your yard.
