Bemis Honey Bee Farm is committed to providing a healthy nucleus colony (nuc) that includes five frames, four of which contain drawn-out comb, brood at various stages of development, an unmarked fertile queen, and stored food. Nucs reside within a 5-frame Pro Nuc box. Each nuc undergoes an inspection and is certified by a state bee inspector to be in good health before pickup. Additionally, all nucs are treated for Varroa as needed. 

Italian/Carniolan hybrid: 

• Raised from mite-resistant Latshaw Breeder Queens & Pol-Line Hybrids.
• Naturally open-mated queen(unmarked)
• Often used in commercial operations because of its high honey production
• Gentle demeanor
• Large overwinter population. 
• Golden in color with brown or dark bands around the abdomen
• Contained in 5-frame Pro Nuc box

We recommend installing your NUC on the same day it is picked up or the following day. Please follow the installation instructions sent to you via email shortly before the pickup date. A live demonstration will take place during our free event, "Bee Day," which will be held on the same day and at the same location as the bee pickup.

Nuc Bags: Nucs will be loaded into your vehicle for you. If you have nuc bags, we will place the nucs in those bags before loading them. Please note that we can only place nucs in bags purchased from BHBF due to design differences among manufacturers. Some bags are poorly designed and can significantly slow down the pickup line.
